Texas Regulators Ban Hemp Flower, Keep Synthetic Gas Station Drugs

DSHS published new hemp regulations that are set to go into effect on March 31st. The new rules will ban the sale of smokable hemp flower, while keeping sketchy synthetic cannabinoids (like THCP and HHC) on shelves across Texas. Whippets, kratom, fake mushrooms, and 11-hydroxy will also remain available at your local gas station.

Sadly, this is a perfect example of how little our regulators actually care about our health and safety. Ban the most natural version, leave the lab-created garbage.

Flower sales account for a large percentage of revenue at some of our favorite dispensaries (upward of 70% for some). Many of these hardworking small business owners will have to close up shop when the new rules go into effect. This also means millions of regular people across the state will lose access to clean, regulated flower, likely driving them back to the black market.

There are several groups preparing to sue the state. If successful, this could result in a temporary injunction, which would keep flower available while they battle it out in court. The most prominent group fighting the good fight is the Texas Hemp Business Council. You can learn more about them and their efforts on their website, and support them with a donation here.

Fortunately for us, Chill Country gummies will remain in compliance, with only some minor packaging updates.

Since our current packaging is about to be useless, we’re running a β€œBuy One Get One” deal through March 30th. Buy any bag or case of gummies and get the second one of equal or lesser value FREE.

Add two or more items to your cart and use code DSHS at checkout. Order here.
